Three times a year, Spring, Summer & Fall, runners and walkers come out to the beach to root each other on at the waters edge.
Birth of the Pier to Pier Run/Walk: In March of 2000 Pier to Pier Run became something that Charlie Saikley & I use to joke about; so I went out and ran pier to pier and felt the RUSH! I came back and did it with my son on my back and got a hell of a rush! It left memories behind that I cherish! I decided to make it a graduation for all my GI Joe Bootcamp members. Charlie Saikley was a godfather of volleyball over 40 years; and my supervisor of my beach classes.
As years went by Charlie Saikley use to watch the pier to pier graduation run and saw that it was becoming a success. He brought to my attention that people from the community were asking how they can participate; so in 2005-2006 Charley Saikley made Pier to Pier Run a community event for all people. In 2008 Pier to Pier Run/walk came to Hermosa Beach and he can come to your community too – Lets build something together!
In memory of Charlie Saikley and bring a community together.
